Photo Shoot--Red and Pink!!!

Just shoot me now because I am totally in love with all the red and pink colors in this shoot.  I could just die from excitement!!

If you have not had the wonderful opportunity to look over the bridal magazine The Brides of North Texas then you are truly missing out.  This is a magazine totally devoted to vendors in the Dallas and Ft Worth area so a bride can see exactly what is going on in DFW.  They also have a huge section devoted to engagements and weddings.  Scott and I just celebrated our 16th anniversary, but if I had it to do all over again I think I would choose pink and red as my colors.  Or maybe yellow and gray.  Well I am so lucky to do what I do because I can create all these wonderfully themed desserts over and over again.

Emily Clarke's vision for this theme is just incredible.
Stop by her website and see all her wonderful ideas.

Photo Shoot-Sunflowers

Here is another shoot we were honored to participate in for the Brides of North Texas.  This was at the Dallas Arboretum and the yellow and brown color just popped.  We did a very rustic yellow butter cream cake and sunflower cookies.  I don't know about you but I just love a simple butter cream cake with fresh flowers on top.

Hala Snyder with Events By Hala designed this elegant, outdoor and beautiful event.

Two tier butter cream cake and sunflower cookies.

The Dallas Arboretum was the perfect backdrop for this beautiful table.

Photo Shoot--Bridal Par Tea

I was beyond excited this year when the Brides of North Texas asked me to do some sweet desserts for a bridal shower themed photo shoot.  You know how much I love all our bridal shower treats so I jumped at the chance.  This was also my first photo shoot in a Fort Worth Venue.  I really learned a lot from this shoot as they let me see all the behind the scene work that goes into a full day shoot.

Wedding Season

What a busy Wedding Season so far and this week we have Graduation orders.  Here is just a preview of some things we have been doing lately.  We have been getting so many cake orders lately.  I think there is nothing better than a simple round cake myself so I love to do them.  You will notice we have been getting loads of request for anything and everything with vanilla and raspberries!  You will see the trend...

And, I am super excited about a cake we were asked to do for a photo shoot in a local bridal magazine.  It turned out just perfect.

Let me start out with the first wedding of the 2012 Season.  My sister-in-law got married in March and I was so honored to do her dessert table.  We did Bliss Bites in all her favorite flavors and a 6" Almond Vanilla Cake, with a Raspberry center.

She had a rustic outside backyard wedding and this cake was the perfect centerpiece.

Mini Cheesecakes, Chocolate Bliss and Lemon Drops.

Don't forget the Raspberry Cheesecake Bliss Bites.

Here is another cake we did in May.  The bride wanted very simple cake and the purple was
inspired from her cake topper.  Nothing is better than a simple vanilla and butter cream cake.

Here is a Yo Gabba Gabba cake we did for a special friend.  A sweet little boy
turned 2 and his favorite color is green.  I think he loved it!!

And finally, a sneak peak of a cake we did for a photo shoot.  Six layers of yummy
vanilla cake, with a raspberry center, covered with vanilla butter cream.

Baby Cakes

We are so proud of Dominique because she finished her first cake with 3-D figurines this week. We think it looks fantastic.  I think we will be getting lots of orders for these once we put it in our order book.  Look out Dominique!!!

A much needed nap!! And Brownies!

Oh how I have loved my time off this holiday season.  I needed some R & R after the busy December we had at the shop and because I worked 14 days in a row without a day off (many of those days open to close).   I am so blessed to have a wonderful staff that worked this week so that I could take a nap every day.

You girls rock!!!

As you know in the shop we bake everything from scratch.  Well, last night I was desperate.  I have gone almost 4 days without sugar and many days without a cupcake!!  After playing on Pinterest and many of my favorite blogs, I decided to make brownies...from a mix!!!  Yes, from a mix!!   I used diet coke because I wanted to "be healthy".  Okay, and I was just too lazy to have my husband go out and buy eggs.  I am starting the Daniel Fast in just a few days and I had to get rid of everything in my little apartment pantry.  I have had this mix in my pantry for over 18 months so I finally said okay I will use it.  In every blog I read the diet coke was different so I created my own blend of mix.  This is what I did:

Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate with Chips Brownie Mix
one 12 oz. can Diet coke

Add one box brownie mix and 1 1/4 cup diet coke.

Mix together by hand until most of the lumps are gone.
As with all brownies, do not over mix.

Use non stick spray in the pan and add to an 8 x 8 pan.
Bake as directed on the box.

Brownies bake up more cake like than traditional brownies.
They baked up very light and fluffy, and I have to say very delicious.
Scott and I ate them in almost two days.
